Residential Interior Design | Lexington, Kentucky
An example of modern architecture nestled within the suburban streets of traditional and historically preserved homes, this canvas, perfect to many, felt lifeless to its owners. The call to revitalize the interior came with one mandate: if you can't do it completely and fearlessly, don't begin. Lovers of music, they needed the space to dance with color and resonate with the exuberance of a live concert. Working with Kentucky artist Kelly Zellers, we began in the open space of the home, immediately setting the tone with a fearless, full-scale mural that boldly tells of exciting and risky adventures ahead. The primary bedroom lives drenched in layers of dimly-lit technicolor like a plush labyrinth, while the family room becomes a peaceful landing spot in contrast with the adjacent music studio. Sound absorbing panels give way to a space for endless creative exploration, with unexpected mixtures of deep hues and striking patterns throughout to evoke an atmosphere of rock and roll. The bright, commercial carpet selection, one often the backdrop of roller rinks, in combination with the perfect Melt Light by British designer Tom Dixon, imbue the space with a playful sense of warmth that welcomes an imaginative symphony from all ages.
