Commercial Development | NuLu, Louisville, Kentucky
This design reflects the Story of two female entrepreneurs wanting to create space for the benefit of others. The nearly 9,000 square foot gutted space on the second floor was transformed into an inspiring collaborative workspace where over 200 people can converge every day to work. Natalie Officer and her team designed a flexible gathering space with energetic purpose meant to inspire progress, camaraderie and inclusivity for both entrepreneurs and greater Louisville. Natalie was contacted early in the envisioning of the space, and became a key player in pitching the concept, having provided drawings and details of what the space would look like and offer. As opposed to hiring an architect, Story utilized Natalie to space plan and draft the full layout, from the kitchen design to the ADA bathrooms. Revenue was considered in decided number and types of offices and office furnishings. The innovative design translation became wide-open floor plans, gender-neutral signage, and confident pattern usage. Officer and her team created bold spaces for those needing rooms for group meetings, teaching, creative thought, and play. True to Natalie O Design, custom punchy upholstery and energizing rotating local art can be experienced throughout the space.
